The Rediff Data Journalism team has constructed a mathematical model to calculate how the seats distribution is altered as sentiment towards the contesting political parties changes, through the use of wins and margins of victory from the 2008 Assembly elections.
The Sentiment Slider works with an interactive map of Rajasthan.
On moving the pointer towards one party, the map shows a recalculated seat count by moving some votes to it from the other party. This can be done for the entire state, as well for each constituency.
On the basis of this calculation, each constituency is marked Strong or Moderate based on the margin of victory for the winning party. The seats too close to call are marked Swing.
